Bonjour, Bébé Foodie: Lucie Thomé’s French-Inspired App Brings Joy to Feeding Babies

Like many parents, Lucie Thomé’s early days of feeding her children were filled with overwhelm—sprinkled with a hefty dose of unsolicited advice and judgment. The first time around, she found herself lost in a whirlwind of purées, baby-led weaning, and the relentless pressure to make everything from scratch. But deep down, she knew there had to be a better way.

Drawing from her expertise as a Certified Nutrition Consultant and the rich food culture of her French upbringing, Lucie set out to help parents replace mealtime stress with joy. The result? Bébé Foodie—a baby feeding app designed to empower parents with personalized, expert-backed guidance.

Officially launching on February 6th, Bébé Foodie is a French-inspired resource featuring over 200 nutritious recipes, an allergen introduction timeline, and custom meal plans to make starting solids simple, stress-free, and fun. With Lucie’s unique perspective and Bébé Foodie’s tailored support, parents can confidently set their little ones on a path to a lifetime of happy eating.

As she gears up for launch, we sat down with Lucie to talk about how her bicultural background shaped her journey, the challenges and triumphs of building Bébé Foodie, what’s next for the company, and her advice for aspiring entrepreneurs.

How has your French upbringing influenced the way you approach Bébé Foodie’s mission and leadership?

Growing up in France, food was a joyful and central part of life. Meals weren’t just about eating; they were about connection, enjoyment, and exploration. There was also no pressure to make every meal “perfect,” and I wanted to bring that mindset into Bébé Foodie. At the same time, raising my kids in the U.S. has given me a bicultural perspective, allowing me to combine the best of both worlds.

In the U.S., there’s so much innovation and access to diverse feeding methods like baby-led weaning, and I’ve been able to merge that practicality with France’s balanced, laid-back food philosophy. Bébé Foodie helps parents embrace flexibility, gain confidence, and remove the pressure of following any single method for nourishing their children. Our brand is about providing accessible advice with a warm, supportive touch that inspires parents to enjoy the feeding journey.

What’s been the hardest and most rewarding part of your entrepreneurial journey?

This may sound cliché, but the hardest part has been balancing my roles as a mom and an entrepreneur—and the guilt that comes with trying to strike that balance. I constantly battle that guilt myself, and I try to help parents navigate it through my mission at Bébé Foodie. But that means I have to follow my own advice! It’s a challenge.

Entrepreneurship doesn’t come with set hours, and I’ve often felt guilty for not meeting my goals for the day—yet also guilty for wanting to stay at my computer instead of spending time with my kids. It’s a constant struggle of feeling like I’m not doing “enough”—not enough time for my company, not enough time with my kids. But over time, I’ve learned to manage it better.

The most rewarding part has been seeing my vision come to life and knowing it’s making a difference for parents. Hearing from moms and dads who feel less pressure because of Bébé Foodie makes all the challenges worth it. It’s also rewarding to test recipes and advice on my own kids; when they love what I serve them, it’s the best feeling!

Trust your gut, but be ready to adapt. Entrepreneurship isn’t a straight path, and your best ideas often evolve when you’re willing to let go of rigid plans and delegate.

We dare you to brag! What achievements are you most proud of?

I’m proud of building a brand from scratch while staying true to its mission! Since becoming a certified baby nutrition consultant, collaborating with experts, and launching our website and content, we’ve never strayed from our values. We’ve stayed committed to what we believe in, and people recognize and appreciate that consistency.

One of my biggest sources of pride is Bébé Foodie’s incredible team of eight (soon to be nine!) pediatric doctors, dietitians, allergists, and feeding experts. They believe in this mission and are so committed and amazing to work with. I’m also proud of the inspiring brands we’ve met and partnered with along the way.

On the business side, I’ve raised $150K in funding even before the product launch, which is a huge milestone. But honestly, what I’m most proud of is creating something I wish I had as a first-time mom—something that makes the feeding journey more manageable, joyful, and pressure-free!

What’s next for you and your company?

We’re launching our app on February 6th, and I’m beyond excited to see the response from parents. From there, we’ll be rolling out new features, including enhanced personalization, advanced tracking tools, and AI-powered meal suggestions based on available ingredients. We’re also expanding our content to include toddler feeding (ages 18 months to three years).

Long term, I envision Bébé Foodie as the go-to resource for parents, supporting them from their baby’s first bite all the way to the family dinner table. There’s so much to build, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead!

What advice would you give someone starting out on this journey?

Trust your gut, but be ready to adapt. Entrepreneurship isn’t a straight path, and your best ideas often evolve when you’re willing to let go of rigid plans and delegate—and this is coming from a complete perfectionist who likes to do everything herself!
